We got a Jackfruit tree in our yard and the fruit just falls off and rot sometimes cuz we forget to harvest them , does that still count as exotic? 😂

Jackfruit is amazing! Our grocery store started carrying them in the spring, so we bought one. It was a great experience.

I know it well, it’s a mess to prep but taste good if it’s ripe. If something is broke you can use it as glue 😂

So “exotic” means anything that is common in literally all of the other continents except north America? Okay.

Jack fruit. Apparently it makes a good vegan substitute for pulled pork sandwiches when cooked a certain way.

The seeds and the fibers in between the sweet pods (ie the actual “jackfruit” bit that’s harvested) can be cooked. Filipino boil fibers with coconut milk add small peppers and dried fish. The seeds can be boiled and eaten as a snack, they taste like chestnuts. The husk I’m sure you can boil for aroma.

certified produce expert. i’ll add that to my resume and attribute it to that multi-category matching game on CD ROM i used to play in TAG class that i can’t remember but desperately want to.

jack fruit is a great sub to make vegan pulled pork BBQ. it tears apart well, and is similar in texture when prepared correctly.
