If it isn’t fried in lard, it isn’t carnitas. These are slowcooker chingaderas Ron Conover

Try browning the pieces of pork shoulder in a pan before you add too slow cooker, also once your at the often part, save all the juice from the slow cooker, pull it out half way through and redip in the juice and back in the oven. Xxxxtra Chrissy. 👌

Come one–authentic carnitas is simmered in lard for hours. This is American carnitas, not true Mexican carnitas.

James…or you could just cook it in manteca over a fire and use kosher salt to spice it. Like a real Mexican lol

Don’t use a Slow Cooker for this recipe. Use a Dutch Oven or an Oven safe pot. Or even a roasting pan! Pork Shoulder doesn’t take more than 3 hours if you cut it like they did here. Also it should have been seared first.

Marquette Kelley this could be great with a mushroom/chickpea substitute instead of beef.

These were pretty good. I made them last night. In the future I think I’ll add jalapeños and coke to the crockpot.

Brown one side in a cast iron if you don’t want to broil. That’s what I do. I make this a couple times a month in the winter months. It’s so good! 🙂

OK…I want some of that! Costco does sell cooked carnitas if ya don’t want to cook and they’re really good. I’m sure not as good as these though.
