We line our bread bowls with a piece of cheese before heating it up, helps keep the soup from soaking through too quickly. Plus, cheese is ALWAYS good!!!

looks great to me …espc since there are folks still in Houston recovering from Hurricane who haven’t got a pot to P in or food on the table some folks would just be happy for bread bowl of great soup and dont give a rats arse if the broth cheese or cream is low fat…

I made this soup, using this recipe, about 2 days ago. I added bacon, because bacon, and used a bit more sharp cheddar, but it was seriously magical. I don’t usually comment on these, but this recipe deserves kudos.

Not bad. I’d only swap out the bagged cheese for freshly grated. The bagged cheese has a powdery texture that transfers to the soup/sauce when melted causing it to feel and taste weird when eating.

I thought it seemed like a fun and easy soup to make. I would probably leave out the broccoli and maybe put corn and potatoes inside. Great ideas on this site.

Instead of making a comment, maybe just watch the video and keep your opinion to yourself. no one gives a shit how unhealthy this is. we are here for a good time, not a long time.

Natalie this is the kind of soup I’d eat, lol. Let’s replace the chicken broth with vegetable and the half n half with a non-diary substitute!

Looks like a good recipe except for this shredded cheese. Shredded cheese contains cellulos powder which is wood pulp. It’s added to prevent the cheese from sticking together. Don’t feed your family wood pulp grate your own cheese.

Cheesy soup? “Kraft” grated cheese has cellulose (wood chips) and starch, which prevents it from sticking. Never, ever buy grated cheese. Do it yourself!

I thought they said it was a cheesy soup? Maybe it’s because I’m from Wisconsin, but 1 cup of cheese in a soup does NOT make it cheesy 😂😂

Epic fail! You suck. First the soup needs to be emulsified. Second. Why cut the bread in half to hollow it out? Cut a large circle in the whole bread then pull out filling. As a chef i feel the need to correct all these free and shitty recipes. Also chicken stock should NEVER be added to a cream based soup. It completely defeats the purpose of making a veggie soup.

My only problem here is that those bread bowls clearly only have 2 spoonfuls worth of soup in them lol

Only soup I put in my bread bowls (sourdough only) is clam chowder 🙂 Had it once at a restaurant in Disneyland, and I’ve been making it at home ever since #nomnom

If you really love your family, you’ll make your own cheese and butter using milk from your private farm in Switzerland. Same with the bread. But if you don’t love them, store bought is fine.

Sorry, turned into Ina Garten there for a minute.

They put in 2 cups of half and half, and then the chicken broth had to be FAT free???? Kind of like drinking a diet soda while eating a candy bar……

Yea if you use preshredded cheese, it’s gonna be grainy and gross. 🙂
In other words. Don’t do that.

I havnt had a good bowl of cream broccoli soup in a long time,I’m not a big bread bowl fan but in this case it looks pretty damn good too

Take an extra few minutes and grate your own cheese instead of using the bagged kind. Freshly grated melts so much better!

The recipe looks good to me but I think I’ll leave out the broccoli and add small pieces of ham instead.

I wouldn’t bake the bread at all. It’s supposed to be soft and you’re supposed to eat the soup out of it then eat the bread. You know like Panera Bread. This is Panera bread 🙂

Ladies and gents, I have never added nutmeg to anything I’ve cooked ever, am I missing out here or something? Because it seems to be all over the place lately.

Instead of half and half, use heavy whipping cream so your heart stops faster

What’s better? Cheesy soup in a bread bowl with real cheese.
